TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners approved a resolution at its regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, Sept. 5, congratulating the Leesburg 16-and-under All-Star Girls Softball Team on winning the state championship on July 16.
According to the adopted resolution, the team won the state championship with four wins by outscoring their opponents 35-11 and by maintaining a batting average of .360.
“The Board of County Commissioners recognizes their team and individual achievements and wishes these coaches and young athletes much success and continued personal growth as they continue their careers and interests in sports,” said Commissioner Jennifer Hill.
Coaches of the team include Don Magruder, Jim Mathews and Paul Harvey. Team members are Jessica Murphy, Felicia Kohler, Tiffany Schroeder, Brittany Wrinkle, Kristen Glover, Devin Mathews, Stephanie Guy, Megan McKeever, Anna Magruder, Amber Paul, Lauren Harvey and Natalie Wilson.
