UMATILLA — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners and the City of Umatilla are inviting the public to attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly upgraded Umatilla Water System. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 at 9 a.m. at the Southside Community Center, 17107 Ball Park Road, Umatilla, FL 32784.
Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell and Umatilla Mayor Laura Wright will be speaking at the event.
The water system’s recent upgrades included new pipe installation to connect 116 new accounts, previously served by the South Umatilla Water System, to the City of Umatilla’s water treatment facility. The city’s water treatment facility will now serve more than 1,500 accounts in Umatilla.
Funding for the water system upgrades totaled $1.3 million, and was provided by a grant through Lake County’s Community Development Block Grant Program.
