LEESBURG – The Lake County Solid Waste Division is partnering with the City of Leesburg Police Department to have a Prescription Drugs Take-Back and Household Hazardous Waste Collection. Lake County residents will be able to dispose of unwanted medications in a safe and environmentally sensitive way, which will prevent others from improperly using these materials.
The event will be from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Jan. 24 at the Walmart parking lot at 2501 Citrus Blvd., Leesburg.
The County’s Household Hazardous Waste Mobile Unit also will collect unwanted household hazardous waste. Residents will be able to conveniently dispose of materials at a drive-thru service.
Residents also will be able to dispose of waste products such as lawn and gardening materials, photo and swimming pool chemicals, paint and related products, cleaning solutions, motor oil and used gas, batteries, fluorescent lamps, light bulbs and small propane tanks.
Materials such as infectious waste, solvents, chemical laboratory waste and radioactive waste are prohibited.
