TAVARES — A new park in Sorrento will have ample parking, a limestone exercise path for walking and biking, as well as fields to be used for football, soccer and baseball. The 49-acre site is located off County Road 437, between Olmac and Wallick roads.
“After about five years of planning, we’re excited that this park will give residents and leagues in this part of the county a place to enjoy outdoor recreation,” said Bobby Bonilla, manager of Lake County’s Parks & Trails Division. “It’s conveniently located very close to Sorrento Elementary School and several churches.”
A soft opening will be Monday, March 11, at East Lake Community Park, 24809 Wallick Road, Sorrento. The park’s hours of operation will be from 6:30 a.m. to sunset seven days a week, including holidays.
The baseball/softball fields are available only for practice at this time. Leagues interested in using any of the fields must reserve them by contacting the Lake County Parks & Trails Division for information, rates, and league-use forms.
