TAVARES — Lake County park rangers invite residents and visitors to attend an upcoming class, as well as a hike at a local park.
“Classes such as the Beginning Birder Class will help prepare you to identify different species on outdoors excursions,” said Gallus Quigley, park ranger with Lake County’s Parks & Trails Division. “The classes being offered during the week will be followed by one of our guided park adventures just a few days later.”
• Beginning Birder Class, Part 3
9 to 11 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 20
PEAR Park Nature Center, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg
The third class in the Beginning Birder Series, offered once in the morning and once in the evening, will study bird-migration patterns and learn the best birding locations.
Registration is suggested for this class.

Lake Idamere Park, 12335 County Road 448, Tavares
Take the whole family on a low-key guided tour of the park’s natural areas to learn about the plants and wildlife. Then stay and enjoy the boundless playground and picnic pavilions.
Registration is suggested for this hike.
To maximize the experience of outdoors events, participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, field guides, water, snacks, sunscreen, insect repellent, a hat and hiking shoes.
