TAVARES — In an effort to encourage local economic development, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners recently voted to approve the extension of a suspension for collecting both transportation and education impact fees on new developments until Jan. 1, 2014.
Ordinance No. 2013-14 amends Section 22-22 Lake County Code, continuing the educational impact-fee suspension, and states in part, “The Board of County Commissioners wishes to stimulate the local economy by encouraging economic development and promoting job creation.”
Beginning Jan. 1, 2014, the collection of transportation impact fees will be at a discounted rate, or 13 percent of the recommended rates.
