TAVARES — The regional development program, myregion.org, is hosting a second round of community input sessions in Lake County to continue the process of “Creating a Shared Vision for Central Florida.”
To confirm attendance at either of these community meetings, log on to www.myregion.org. The community meetings scheduled for Lake County are:
• Thursday, Sept. 14, 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Groveland Puryear Community Center, 243 S. Lake Ave.
• Thursday, Sept. 21, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Eustis Community Center, 601 Northshore Drive
(The second meeting, originally scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 21, 6 to 8:30 p.m., will start one-half hour earlier from 5:30 to 8 p.m.)
In the first six months of a 15-month campaign, 3,000 residents and community leaders have addressed the question of “How Shall We Grow” through a multitude of input sessions hosted in the seven counties of Central Florida, including three sessions held in Lake County during the month of May. The community sessions explained why it is important to build a vision for the region that is expecting an additional four million people by 2050. Participants were asked how they envision the future of Central Florida by making choices about future land use, transportation and environmental preservation.
During the second round of community meetings, participants will review the input received so far and have the opportunity to make “real-time” choices about Central Florida’s future. These 14 sessions, two in each of the seven counties, will allow residents and leaders to take the next step toward creating a shared vision for Central Florida.
