TAVARES — Lake County is cosponsoring the second-annual Regional Fair Housing Summit, with the theme of “One Community, Growing Together: Regional Approaches to Creating Inclusive Communities.” The featured speaker will be James H. Carr, senior fellow with the Center for American Progress and Distinguished Scholar with The Opportunity Agenda.
The summit will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 30 at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center, 1500 Sand Lake Road, Orlando.
Other speakers will include Michael Allen, partner, Relman, Dane & Colfax PLLC; Rob Breymaier, executive director, Oak Park Regional Housing Center; David Baade, president/CEO, Fair Housing Continuum; Nadine Smith, executive director, Equality Florida; David M. Gillespie, housing investigator, City of Orlando Human Relations; Mike Trey Keefe, TransAction Florida; Kimberly Derry, fair housing unit leader, Community Legal Services of Mid-Florida; Jaimie Ross, Florida Housing Coalition; Hemendra Thakkar, presenting At Home with Diversity; and Kenneth J. Carroll, director of Fair Housing Assistance Program, U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.
