RELEASE DATE: April 10, 2013

TAVARES — Park rangers invite residents and visitors to learn about Lake County’s abundant wildlife and unique ecosystems while enjoying the outdoors.
Bird & Butterfly Survey
7 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18
The Ferndale Preserve, 19220 County Road 455, Ferndale
This is a quarterly census of the birds and butterflies on the preserve to assist in monitoring the effects of restoration and land management on the long-term biodiversity of the site. Experience is helpful but not necessary. Binoculars and a field guide are required for this event.
Lake Norris Hike, Paddle & Pick
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, April 19
Lake Norris Conservation, Lake Norris Road, Eustis
Naturalists will lead a mile-long hike, identifying plants and animals, then enjoy a guided paddling trip. Along the way, participants will be able to clean up litter to keep the waterway healthy.
To register, call LCWA at 352-343-3777. Space is extremely limited.
Outdoor Beginning Birder Class
8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 20
