CLERMONT – The Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program, in conjunction with the Lake County Water Authority and the Florida Lake Management Society, will give away aquatic plants during the Clermont Farmer’s Market on Montrose Street in downtown Clermont on Sunday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or until they are gone.
The plant varieties that will be available include: canna, lizard’s tail, bulrush, pickerel weed, sand cord grass, arrowhead and iris. There also will be a limited quantity of cypress and red maple trees. Those who are interested will be allowed to take three to four plants, while supplies last.
Aquatic plants benefit a water body by providing habitat for wildlife and acting as a filter for nutrients. All free aquatic plants must be planted in a moist, waterfront area.
