LEESBURG – The 17th Annual Leesburg Bikefest, the world’s largest three-day motorcycle rally and music event, will take place the weekend of April 26 to 28. About 300,000 bikers and enthusiasts are expected to arrive in Leesburg via motorcycle, car and bus to enjoy more than 70 concerts, 250 vendors, and multiple special events and shows at 12 entertainment venues. All events are free.
The Bikefest is sponsored by Budweiser, Gator Harley-Davidson Dealership, Progressive Insurance and Lake County Florida.
The Bikefest will feature three headlining acts. Friday night’s headliner will be Stephen Pearcy, “the voice of top rock act RATT,” which will begin at 10 p.m. There also will be a special appearance by ’80s rock band Nova Rex at 6:30 p.m. Friday. Platinum recording artists Candlebox will perform starting at 9:30 p.m. Saturday. At 2 p.m. Sunday, The Outlaws, known for “There goes another Love Song” and “Riders In The Sky,” will take the stage. A recent documentary about the band was admitted into the Rock-N-Roll Hall of Fame and the Smithsonian.
There will be other bands and individual acts from a variety of genres, including rock, Top 40, country, pop, blues and jazz. For a complete list of artists, visit www.LeesburgBikefest.com.
“You don’t need to be a motorcycle rider to enjoy the Bikefest,” said Joe Shipes, executive vice president of the Leesburg Partnership, Inc. “Getting there by shuttle is easy. This year there are many more stops around Lake County.
“Leesburg Bikefest upholds the ‘no bike required’ philosophy,” Shipes said. “Lake Xpress is providing shuttle services so one can get to and from event locations safely and conveniently.”
The shuttle service includes stops in Mount Dora, Eustis, Tavares and The Villages. Comfortable shuttle buses will run each route every 30 minutes. Guests will be able to safely park in any public parking place and board the shuttle. Once in the downtown event area, The Gator Harley Express runs from downtown Leesburg to the Gator Harley-Davidson dealership every 20 minutes. For details on available routes, visit the “Info & Guides” tab at www.LeesburgBikefest.com.
For those who prefer to drive and park themselves, there will be not-for-profit “Park and Walk Lots” in downtown Leesburg. Various nonprofit organizations will assist at the lots, open to the public for donations of $10 per vehicle. Main Street in Leesburg will be available only for motorcycles.
