TAVARES — Several premiere packages are sure to please outdoors enthusiasts during the Second Annual Wings and Wildflower Festival, to take place the weekend of Oct. 4 through 6, at Hickory Point Recreational Park, 27341 State Road 19, Tavares.
James Currie, host of NBC Sports’ “Nikon Birding Adventures,” will be the keynote speaker at a dinner at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4 at the Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora. Currie also will host an exclusive, narrated tour with Hobie Kayaks from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 and Sunday, Oct. 6, of one of Lake County’s most popular blueways – the Lake Harris Run. The cost is $100 and space is limited to 10 participants. This premiere package also includes festival accessories such as a poster, T-shirt, tote bag with commemorative art, water bottle, wildflower seed packet and Lake County maps and brochures.
“This is a great opportunity to learn firsthand from one of the leading bird experts in the U.S.” said Debi Dyer, tourism program supervisor for Lake County. “The chance to do it at one of Lake County’s beautiful nature settings is once in a lifetime.”
There also will be one ticket given for a narrated tour on Friday, Oct. 4 for organizations that sponsor $1,000 or more toward the event.
