TAVARES — Several premiere events will make the Second Annual Wings and Wildflower Festival even more of a special opportunity for bird and native plant enthusiasts during the weekend of Oct. 4 through 6, at Hickory Point Recreational Park, 27341 State Road 19, Tavares.
Jeffrey Gordon, a well-known and respected author, photographer, speaker and tour leader in the birding community, will be the keynote speaker at a lunch from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5 at the Marina del Rey at Mission Inn Resort & Club, 26300 State Road 19, Howey-in-the-Hills.
Dr. Walter Taylor, also known as Mr. Florida Wildflower, will discuss Florida wildflowers at a barbecue dinner from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hickory Point Recreational Park, 27341 State Road 19, Tavares.
“The prominent speakers at Lake County’s diverse settings will make the festival even more of a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for those who love the outdoors,” said Debi Dyer, tourism program supervisor for Lake County.
The lunch with Jeffery Gordon is $25, while the barbecue dinner with Walter Taylor is $20. Registration for both events is required, as space is limited.
