WASHINGTON, D.C. – National Association of Counties (NACo) President Linda Langston recently reappointed Welton Cadwell, commissioner for Lake County District 5, as the 2013-14 chairman of NACo’s Community and Economic Development Steering Committee. This is the second year Cadwell will serve as chair to the committee.
“It is an honor to be reappointed by President Langston to lead NACo’s Community and Economic Development Steering Committee,” Cadwell said. “My continued service will benefit Lake County because most of the policies that come out of this committee affect our citizens’ lives on a daily basis.”
Cadwell has been active in NACo since 1996 and has served in several leadership roles on the Community and Economic Development Steering Committee, including six terms as vice chairman. He was a member of the International Development Taskforce, and for the past four years, has served on the Board of Directors.
The Community and Economic Development Steering Committee is responsible for NACo policy development on all matters pertaining to housing programs, community and economic development, and public works including the creation of affordable housing and housing options for different populations, residential, commercial, and industrial development, and building and housing codes.
