TAVARES — The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County will host a “1 Chicken 3 Meals or More” class from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at the Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. The program will help participants save money while preparing quick, healthy meals for the family.
“Poultry is a lower-fat protein choice,” said Julie England, Family and Consumer Sciences Agent at the UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County. “A little bit of advance preparation of a whole chicken can provide several tasty dishes that will cut down on weeknight stress.”
At the program, England will demonstrate how to safely prepare a chicken and store it for later consumption. The class will prepare and sample meals such as chicken burritos, arroz con pollo, chicken-pasta bowl and chicken wild-rice soup.
The cost of the class is $12 and registration is required by Saturday, Sept. 28. Registration can be completed at https://chickensept2013.eventbrite.com.
