TAVARES — Lake County Manager David Heath announced today his appointment of Brian Sheahan as the new Director of Lake County’s Community Safety and Compliance Department.
Sheahan has been with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners since June 2006, serving as the Manager for the Planning and Community Design Division.
“Brian brings a considerable amount of knowledge and expertise to this leadership role,” said Heath. “His background in planning, coupled with his knowledge of code and animal related issues makes him a great addition to the department.”
As the Planning Manager, Sheahan worked on the County’s 2030 Comprehensive Plan, in addition to recent changes to the Land Development Regulations. As the Director of Community Safety and Compliance, he will oversee the County’s Code Enforcement, Probation and Animal Services Divisions.
Sheahan has a Masters in Urban and Regional Planning and Bachelors in Political Science/Public Administration from the University of Florida. He also served in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Navy Reserve before being honorably discharged to pursue his degrees.
