TAVARES — The Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is reminding residents that are interested in submitting waterway photos to possibly be featured in Lake County’s 2014 Adopt-a-Lake Calendar, to submit their entries by Friday, Oct. 18.
The top-14 photographs submitted will be featured in the 2014 calendar. A panel of volunteers will independently rate the photographs to select the semifinalists. Once the semifinalists are selected, online voting will be opened to the public on the Adopt-a-Lake Web page. The top-scoring photograph will earn the opportunity to be featured on the calendar’s cover.
All photos must be of a named body of water in Lake County and must depict water somewhere in the photo. Entries are limited to five photos per person.
To submit a photograph, email it to Cathie Catasus at email@example.com, drop-off a CD at the Water Lab during normal business hours at 12923 County Landfill Road in Tavares; or send a CD by U.S. Mail to: Adopt-a-Lake Program, Attn: Cathie Catasus, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778. All photos must include the identification of the water body, the name of the photographer, and if possible, the date the photo was taken.
The Adopt-a-Lake Calendars, which feature the winning photos, will be available for a suggested donation of $5 from the Lake County Public Works Department, Water Resource Management Laboratory. Proceeds from calendar sales benefit the volunteer Adopt-a-Lake Program.
The Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is comprised of three separate components: Water-quality monitoring, public education and pollution prevention. Volunteers can select which components of the program best fit their desired level of participation.
