ASTATULA — The Town of Astatula is inviting residents to a ribbon-cutting and open house of its new Town Hall located at 25009 County Road 561. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 1 p.m.
The International Speedway Corporation in Daytona Beach, Fla. donated the 4,980 square-foot manufactured buildings that comprise the new Town Hall. The town funded the relocation and renovation of the buildings at a cost of $175,000.
"The Town of Astatula was in the right place at the right time for the gift of the manufactured buildings we received as we were pressed for room to meet with and serve our citizen and adequately store our records,” said Mayor Judy Tice. “This building will serve our citizens for a long time.”
The Town Hall’s façade was fashioned to fit in with the character of the town. The facility includes offices and conference spaces for both the staff and Council workshops. It will also allow space for a “Take One, Bring One” library for residents.
The previous Town Hall, which was approximately 900 square-feet, housed all town staff, including the police department. The building, originally a grocery store and gas station, was demolished to make room for parking spaces at the new Town Hall.
The Lake County Public Safety Department, Fire Rescue Division is welcoming residents to stop by after the ribbon cutting of Town Hall to tour fire station 77, located across the street at 13431 Ohio St.
In November 2012, the fire station began operating as a fully-staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week station, housing firefighters and emergency medical technicians on the premises.
