TAVARES — The Lake County Welcome Center is partnering with the Lake County Technology Council to identify and promote high-speed, wireless Internet connection (Wi-Fi) hotspots located in the County.
“This can be looked at helping businesses, but it also positively impacts tourism and the quality of life in Lake County,” said Greg Mihalic, Director of the Lake County Department of Tourism and Business Relations.
Interested businesses can call the Welcome Center at (352) 429-3673 to submit a free or fee-based Wi-Fi hotspot for the directory. Once the information is sufficiently collected from all interested parties, the directory of Wi-Fi spots will be publicized on the Lake County tourism Web site, www.lakecountyfl.com, and in a brochure.
The Lake County Technology Council was formed several years ago and is comprised of technology professionals from local governments, businesses and educational institutions. The council has 35 members and meets once a month to discuss technology issues in Lake County.
One of the goals of the Lake County Technology Council is to promote the growth of Lake County as a Smart Community. This partnership is a step in that direction. For more information on the Lake County Technology Council, call the Business Resources Center at (352) 365-3579.
