TAVARES — Lake County’s Health & Human Services Division is releasing a request for grant applications for funding up to $25,000 for youth intervention/prevention programs and as much as $10,000 for health and human services programs. Applications will be accepted beginning Monday, March 10 and the deadline to submit grant applications is at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30.
The First Bidder’s Conference designed for Children’s Services Council and Human Services grants will be held from 9 a.m. – noon Thursday, March 20 the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares. This conference is mandatory if applying for either of these grants.
The Second Bidder’s Conference will be held from 9 a.m. – noon on Monday, March 24 at the Lake County Emergency Communications & Operations Center, 425 W. Alfred St., Tavares. This conference is also mandatory for bidders applying for either of these grants if they could not attend the first conference.
• CHILDREN'S SERVICES COUNCIL ($25,000 maximum funding) – youth prevention and/or intervention programs emphasizing one or more of the following needs: abuse and neglect; afterschool and out-of-school programs to address delinquency prevention; developmental screening and assessments for children with special physical and behavioral needs; kinship care (grandparents/relatives raising children); subsidized child care; nutritional education and the reduction of childhood obesity to safeguard physical health.
• HUMAN SERVICES ($10,000 maximum funding) – individuals, elders and families prevention and/or intervention programs emphasizing one or more of the following needs: rental or mortgage assistance; utilities assistance; deposits (for utilities and housing); food; elder fraud and exploitation prevention.
