UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County offers 2 classes on arthritis pain management

RELEASE DATE: April 15, 2014

TAVARES — The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is hosting classes in Tavares and Groveland on arthritis pain management.

The free program, called “Put Pain in Its Place: How to Get Osteoarthritis Pain Under Control,” will be held at two locations and provide older adults knowledge about osteoarthritis pain and offer them strategies to relieve it.

The Tavares class is from 2 - 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 30 at the Tavares Public Library, 314 N. New Hampshire Ave. Register at https://tavarespain.eventbrite.com

The Groveland class is from 2 - 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at the Marion Baysinger Memorial Library, 756 W. Broad St., Groveland. Register at https://grovelandpain.eventbrite.com

“Arthritis is the nation’s leading cause of disability,” said Julie England, Family and Consumer Sciences extension agent with UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County. “The program will discuss diagnosis, management and treatment options and strategies for controlling and even preventing pain.”

The mission of the UF/IFAS Extension in Lake County is to develop knowledge in agricultural, human and natural resources and to make that knowledge accessible to sustain and enhance the quality of human life.
