Lake County launches sports tourism website

RELEASE DATE: April 29, 2014

TAVARES – Lake County has launched its much anticipated sports website,
www.SportsInLakeFL.com, showcasing the county’s state-of-the-art sports venues and facilities.

Lake County is a prime destination for sporting events and activities due to its unique topography including over 1,000 named lakes, nature trails and rolling hills and scenic vistas. Lake County also boasts top-notch facilities like the National Training Center in Clermont and this summer, the brand new Hickory Point Beach sand volleyball complex at Hickory Point Recreational Park, to name a few.

“Lake County’s proximity to Orlando-area attractions, major airports and roadways as well as our economical and accommodating hotels put Lake County on the map for many site selectors,” said Robert Chandler, director of Lake County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department. “Our sports-friendly staff takes a hands-on approach to helping organize local athletic events of all sizes, which makes hosting a sporting event here a no-brainer.”

Lake County’s Economic Development & Tourism Department also works closely with The Central Florida Sports Commission, a non-profit private organization that solicits, creates and supports sports-related events and businesses.

The new website, developed in-house by the staff in the County’s Communications Department and Economic Development & Tourism Department, includes a searchable facilities guide and map, a calendar of sports-related events, resources for both visitors and event organizers including hotel, vendor and facility information as well as a listing of local contacts.

To learn more about why Lake County is the ideal location for sporting events, log on to www.SportsInLakeFL.com or contact a member of the Lake County Economic Development & Tourism team at 352-742-3918.
