LEESBURG – The Lake County Arts and Cultural Alliance is hosting a networking meeting open to all local artists and cultural organizations from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 2 at the Leesburg Community Center in Venetian Gardens, 201 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg.
The purpose of the meeting is to promote “the betterment of the arts and cultural community as a whole and develop partnerships based on the arts,” said Amy Painter, Executive Director of the Leesburg Center for the Arts.
Jill Swidler, a Lake County resident and Senior Director for the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, will present on the new venue currently under construction in downtown Orlando.
The group will also discuss how the county and its municipalities can help foster the growth of arts and culture to further economic development in Lake County. At 6 p.m., individual artists, visual arts organizations, performing arts organizations and those involved in major local events will break into groups for roundtable discussions regarding projects occurring throughout the county.
Light refreshments will be served.
The alliance was created to advise the Board of County Commissioners on matters relating to arts and cultural affairs within the county, and encourage and facilitate more efficient use of public and private resources for the development and support of the arts.
