TAVARES – Lake County has proudly accepted the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2014 Annual Budget.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the highest quality reflecting both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting.
To receive this award, Lake County was assessed on its policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device.
Budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories and the 14 mandatory criteria within those categories to receive the award.
“Lake County’s Budget Division is committed to maintaining top-notch budgeting practices and we are thrilled to be recognized for effective budget presentation,” said Binh Nguyen, Lake County Budget Manager.
The Government Finance Officers Association is a nonprofit professional association serving nearly 18,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
