RELEASE DATE: October 24, 2006

TAVARES — The Lake County 4-H Program will host a peanut butter drive at local Publix Super Markets on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to celebrate National Make a Difference Day.

Local 4-H youth will collect peanut butter during the day for Second Harvest Food Bank. Second Harvest Food Bank and area Publix Super Markets have partnered with the 4-H District 8, which includes the counties of Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia, to alleviate the urgent problem of hunger among Central Florida residents.

In Lake County, more than 700 4-H club members and 200 volunteers are involved in the 4-H program. To learn how to become a 4-H member or volunteer leader in Lake County, call Sarah Hensley, 4-H Youth Development Extension Agent, at (352) 343-4101 or log on to http://lake.ifas.ufl.edu/4-H/.
