TAVARES – Lake County Commissioner Welton Cadwell was unanimously chosen as the temporary Chairman of the newly formed Central Florida Expressway Authority (CFX) during the board’s first meeting today in Orlando. CFX elections will be held again when Gov. Rick Scott makes his final appointments to the nine-member board.
“This is an exciting time in Central Florida as we plan for future transportation needs,” Commissioner Cadwell said. “Our top priority is restoring the public trust in the authority.”
During Lake County’s June 24 Commission meeting, Chairman Jimmy Conner appointed Commissioner Cadwell to the CFX board as Lake County’s first-ever representative.
CFX is an independent, locally controlled transportation tolling authority providing infrastructure for residents and visitors in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. The authority uses local toll revenues to build, operate and maintain the region’s 109-miles of expressway networks and is responsible for the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of a 109-mile limited-access expressway system serving the four county jurisdictions.
