Wings & Wildflowers Festival announces host hotels

RELEASE DATE: July 23, 2014

TAVARES – Celebrate Lake County’s diverse birds, wildflowers and natural resources while relaxing in comfort and style at any of the three Wings and Wildflowers Festival’s host hotels.

The festival, to be held Oct. 3-5 at Venetian Gardens at 201 E. Dixie Ave., Leesburg, is proud to offer festival-goers special rates for nearby accommodations at Lakeside Inn, 100 N. Alexander St., Mount Dora, the Hampton Inn, 9630 U.S. Highway 441 in Leesburg and the Best Western Plus Lake County Inn & Suites, 1380 E. Burleigh Blvd., Tavares.

Lakeside Inn will be offering rooms for $99 a night. For reservations, visit www.lakeside-inn.com, and use booking code BIRD, or call 800-556-5016. The Best Western Plus is offering festival participants a special rate of $89 per night use booking code BWP. For reservations, visit www.bestwestern.com or call 800-780-7234. Lakeside Inn will also host one of the festival’s keynote dinners from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 3 featuring Roger L. Hammer, an award-winning naturalist and author and Stacy Tornio, editor of the premier national birding and gardening publication “Birds & Blooms.” Paddy Cunningham of Birding Adventures will also host “Breakfast with Birds” at Lakeside Inn from 6:30 - 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 3.

The 3rd Annual Wings and Wildflowers Festival will showcase Lake County as a premier birding destination. The goal of this festival to enhance awareness and appreciation of Lake County’s quality of life and support environmental initiatives on behalf of citizens and visitors alike. The festival has been made popular by its exciting field trips to birding hotspots and wildflower havens, as well as due to bringing some of the nation’s top birding, wildflower and nature experts to the area to share their knowledge.
