Animal Services extends adoption fee reduction; announces ‘Teacher’s Pet: Back to School Adoption Sale’

RELEASE DATE: August 1, 2014

TAVARES – Lake County Animal Service is calling on all smarty cats and top-of-the-class dogs to visit the shelter during the month of August and meet their new best friend at the “Teacher’s Pet: Back to School Adoption Sale.”

“As Lake County Animal Services’ shelter nears capacity, we decided to keep our adoption prices low and add even more family-friendly, community-based events to our summer promotions,” said Jen Ferguson, Animal Services supervisor.

The county will continue offering dogs and cats for adoption at the reduced rate of $10, down from $50 and $40 respectively. Cats will be adopt-one-get-one-free as the shelter continues to take in hundreds of kittens per month during the kitten season. The $10 fee includes all services regularly provided upon adoption. A maximum of three dogs and four cats may be adopted per household.
