TAVARES – With Lake County Animal Services' adoptable pet population steady at 90 percent, shelter management has opted to continue its summer adoption sale.
All dogs will remain available for adoption at $10 each, and cats will be $10 or adopt-one-get-one-free. The fee includes all services regularly provided upon adoption. A maximum of three dogs and four cats may be adopted per household.
The prices will be fixed at least through Oct. 1, when the Lake County Sheriff’s Office begins overseeing the shelter’s operations.
“Animal Services has kept its adoption prices low and hosted community events such as the Puppy and Kitten Baby Shower, the Gold Ribbon Dog promotion and the Teacher’s Pet: Back to School Sale, which featured family-friendly events every Saturday in August,” said shelter supervisor Jennifer Ferguson. “Our adoption, rescue and owner reclaim rates have greatly improved this year and we attribute our numbers in part to the shelter’s increased community outreach.”
The shelter is located at 28123 County Road 561, Tavares and is open weekly from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Saturday, except holidays.
