TAVARES — Romance will be in the air and the power of imagination will be on full display at the City of Tavares’ season premier “Art in the Square” exhibit, titled “Vision of the Dream: A Midsummer Night’s Dream on canvas and stage,” on Friday, Nov. 3, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at City Hall, 201 E. Main St.
Guests of the “Art in the Square” complimentary reception will be delighted by the uniquely created thematic art reminiscent of ancient Greece with elements of Renaissance England. Most of the artwork on display is for sale and has been provided by the following local artists:

During the reception, the sounds of the Celtic harp and guitar, performed by minstrels Steve and Cathy Reel, will resonate through City Hall. In the Council Chambers, 18 Lake-Sumter Community College theatrical students will be performing William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The production is under the direction of Gary Rogers, Director of Theater Arts, with the technical support of Greg Cumbaa, Coordinator of Technical and Theater.
This unique cultural experience promises to be a fun-filled, rousing evening of Shakespearean art, music and theater. The “Vision of the Dream: A Midsummer Night’s Dream on canvas and stage” art exhibit will remain on display at City Hall through Monday, Dec. 11.
