TAVARES — The Lake County Cooperative Extension Office is hosting a class about safe operation of tractors on Monday, Nov. 13, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, located at 1951 Woodlea Road in Tavares.
According to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, fatalities from agricultural tractors are by far the leading cause of death and serious injury in agriculture in the United States. Some 250 farmers, family members and workers are killed every year in tractor-related incidents.
The three-hour class is broken into three parts: Tractor and Equipment Safety, Emergency First Aid and Personal Protection Equipment. To register for this class call Maggie Jarrell of the Lake County Cooperative Extension Office at (352) 343-4101 or e-mail email@example.com.
