TAVARES – Lake County’s Health & Human Services Division’s first Bidders’ Conference for those applying for a health and human services program grants has been rescheduled from 1- 4 p.m. on Thursday, March 26 to 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 31 at the Lake County Emergency Communications & Operations Center (ECOC), second floor, rooms A&B, located at 425 W. Alfred Street, Tavares. The second Bidders’ Conference will be held from 9 a.m. – noon on Friday, April 3, also at the ECOC. The conferences are designed specifically for the Children’s Services Council and Human Services grants. Attendance at one of the bidders’ conferences is mandatory for applicants.
Lake County’s Health & Human Services Division released a request for grant proposals on March 12 for funding as much as $25,000 for youth intervention/prevention programs, and as much as $10,000 for health and human services programs. Organizations eligible for funding from Children’s Services Council and Human Services grants include public and private non-profit organizations, local governments and public or private schools. Applicants must demonstrate a sufficient level of administrative capacity to effectively manage funds received. All proposals selected for funding must serve Lake County residents exclusively. The deadline to submit grant applications is 5 p.m. Friday, May 1.
CHILDREN'S SERVICES COUNCIL ($5,000-$25,000) – Youth prevention and/or intervention programs emphasizing one or more of the following needs: abuse and neglect; afterschool and out of school programs to address delinquency prevention; developmental screening and assessments for children with special physical and behavioral needs; kinship care (grandparents/relatives raising children); subsidized child care; nutritional education and the reduction of childhood obesity to safeguard physical health.
HUMAN SERVICES ($5,000-$10,000) – Individuals, elders and families prevention and/or intervention programs emphasizing one or more of the following needs: rental or mortgage assistance; utilities assistance; deposits (for utilities and housing); food; achieving economic self-sufficiency and services that assist with independent living for elders and disabled.
