LEESBURG – Lake County’s Public Transportation division is encouraging Leesburg Bikefest revelers to safely travel to and from the festival via LakeXpress bus.
As in previous years, LakeXpress will be providing convenient shuttle services during the festival, Friday through Sunday April 24 – 26, along U.S. Highway 441 with routes to Leesburg and back from Mount Dora, Eustis, Tavares and The Villages. Additionally, the Gator Harley Express shuttle will run every 10 minutes from downtown Leesburg to Gator Harley Davidson at 1745 U.S. Highway 441.
Fares are $1 each way, $3 for an unlimited day pass, or $8 for a 10-ride pass. Exact change is required. Students with a valid school ID ride free, and seniors and veterans ride for half price with ID. Transfer passes are free for single, one-way trips. Buses are equipped for disabled passengers and also have bicycle racks.
Passengers can catch LakeXpress at any of the more than 50 special Bikefest bus stops, regular LakeXpress stops, or at any safe location along the route by raising their hand and motioning to the driver as the bus approaches. Passengers may depart the bus by using the pull cord or notifying the driver of their desired drop-off location. The driver will determine the most safe and convenient location to allow passengers to board or exit the bus.
