TAVARES – Lake County is inviting citizens interested in keeping the community clean and attractive to a Keep America Beautiful (KAB) affiliation meeting to be hosted from 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at the Lake County Emergency Operations Center in the Second Floor Training Room, 425 W. Alfred St., Tavares.
Keep America Beautiful is known as the nation’s leading nonprofit agency that focuses on building and maintaining vibrant communities. As part of Lake County’s efforts in this endeavor, the county is seeking membership with KAB and this training session is the second and final training to complete the county’s affiliation requirements.
"During this meeting we will discuss planning and goal-setting to develop an action plan for our first year with the program,” said Brian Sheahan, Lake County’s Director of Community Safety & Compliance. “We are welcoming members of the community who are interested in helping to beautify public spaces to join in our efforts.”
Membership with KAB requires the establishment of a community team and the county is reaching out to citizens, government officials as well as community organizations with a special interest in the environment to serve on this team to ensure its growth and success.
The county is also accepting applications for the Keep Lake Beautiful committee. Those interested in this committee may apply during the meeting, or may contact Brian Sheahan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
