EUSTIS — The largest graduating class ever of Lake County firefighters was honored at a ceremony last Thursday as Lake County Manager Cindy Hall and Department of Public Safety Director and Fire Chief Gary Kaiser wished the 35 men and women well in their new careers.
The hour-long ceremony at Lake Technical Institute was highlighted by a slideshow of photographs which illustrated the rigors of the four-week orientation program the new firefighters endured. The program instructs candidates about the practices and protocol of the Lake County Department of Public Safety, Fire Rescue Division.

The ceremony continued with family members and fire officials pinning badges on the firefighters. In addition, Bruce Bowers, Shannon Bush and Donovan Miller were promoted to lieutenant during the ceremony.
Of the 35 new firefighters, 27 were assigned to stations and the remaining eight will serve as temporary firefighters.
