TAVARES – Lake County’s Solid Waste Division is encouraging residents of unincorporated Lake County to clean out their garages during Independence Day weekend, as haulers will pick up excess trash on regular collection days during the week of July 6-10.
Any excess trash, recycling and yard waste set out curbside in plastic bags or garbage cans will be accepted during the first week after the holiday. No hazardous waste items will be collected. Large bulk items such as furniture, may be placed at the curb for collection. To schedule a pickup for a bulk item, call 352-343-9400.
“During regular, non-holiday weeks, all trash must fit into the resident’s county-issued carts in order to be picked up by haulers,” said Jim Stivender, director of Lake County Public Works. “However, during holiday weeks throughout the year, residents receive an added bonus as our haulers are contracted to pick up overflow trash, giving citizens a chance to clean out their garages, homes and yards without having to bring excess waste to their local convenience centers.”
All residential trash, recycling and yard waste will be collected as regularly scheduled during the 4th of July holiday week. Lake County’s Central Landfill Facility in Astatula and all of the convenience centers will be open on Friday, July 3. However, the Central Landfill Facility and all of the convenience centers will be closed on Saturday, July 4.
