Saturday in the Garden speaker series presents ‘Turf and Groundcovers’ class

RELEASE DATE: July 1, 2015

TAVARES — The University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County is hosting “Turf and Groundcovers” on Saturday, July 11 at 10 a.m. at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.

The class, which is part of the Saturday in the Garden speaker series, will be presented by UF/IFAS Extension Agent Brooke Moffis.

“This informative lecture will teach residents about the basics of turf care and selection of groundcovers and will be followed by an outdoor tour of the turf walk at Discovery Gardens,” said Moffis.

Online registration for the class is available at https://eventbrite.com/event/17459711467 or by calling Anna Perez at 352-343-4101 ext. 2714. The fee for the class is $5 in advance for adults and $6 at the door. Children under the age of 16 may attend free of charge.

Participants are also invited to explore the Discovery Gardens, a 3.5-acre habitat next to the Agricultural Center, which is open from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Class participation is not required for entry into the gardens.
