LEESBURG — The Lake County Adult Literacy Program is presenting two free classes for those who want to improve their English conversation skills. The classes are for people who speak any native language and are at any level of English proficiency, and will provide a chance to practice speaking in a relaxed setting.
Classes are held at the W.T. Bland Library in Mount Dora, 1995 N. Donnelly St., Mount Dora, every Wednesday from 3:30–5 p.m. and beginning on July 20, new classes will be added at the Leesburg Public Library, located at 100 E. Main St., Leesburg, every Monday from 10 a.m. – noon.
“For many students, overcoming their fear of speaking is the hardest part of learning English,” said Rachel Dellinger, Literacy and Program Specialist. “Conversation classes provide a safe environment to practice talking with a tutor who can help them gain confidence.”
Classes are free and ongoing, and participants do not need to pre-register. All materials are provided. Class teachers are tutors in the Lake County Library System’s Adult Literacy Program and are trained and have experience working with English language learners.
