MOUNT DORA — The Lake~Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization, in partnership with the Lake County Board of County Commissioners and Lake County Schools, is hosting the 2015 Summer Summit focusing on sidewalks and safe access to schools, on Wednesday July 29 from 8:30 a.m. – noon at the Mount Dora Community Center, 520 N. Baker St., Mount Dora.
“The summit will define the issues, as we have studied 54 Lake County school sites as well as a two-mile radius around each,” said T.J. Fish, executive director of the Lake-Sumter MPO. “We will then focus on the steps to enhance safe access to and from our schools, which inevitably leads to a discussion on how to fund our needs.”
Lake County commissioners, as well as representatives from the county’s Public Works Department, are scheduled to be in attendance.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with light refreshments in the reception area of the community center, and will feature project and program displays to help guide the discussions to follow. The MPO will also incorporate an interactive electronic polling system at the Summit to engage attendees, provide prompt interaction to topics discussed and collect real-time data from participants.
