4-H ‘Ribs4Kids” event to offer BBQ for a cause

RELEASE DATE: September 14, 2015

TAVARES — The Lake County 4-H Foundation is hosting the “Ribs4Kids” event, offering family-sized portions of pork prepared by Chef TJ Platt in support of youth development programs in Lake County.

“This delicious fundraiser will directly benefit the Lake County 4-H program,” said Lake County 4-H Agent Rachel Slocumb. “The money raised will be used to provide youth scholarships for state-offered events, camp and county educational programs.”

The price for each slab of ribs or pork butt are $25 each. Orders are due to the Lake County 4-H office by Monday, Sept. 28. Payments can be made in cash during normal business hours at the Lake County Agricultural Center, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, by check made payable to the Lake County 4-H Foundation, Inc., or via PayPal to Lakecounty4hfoundation@yahoo.com. Order forms are online at http://lake.ifas.ufl.edu/4-H/.

The ribs must be picked up on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Elks Lodge, located at 2540 Dora Ave., Tavares. Pickup times are at noon, 3 and 6 p.m.

4-H is America's largest non-formal educational program for youth, annually reaching approximately 6.5 million young people. The educational programs help children develop inquiring minds, learn practical skills, strengthen decision-making abilities, improve communications and interpersonal relationships, and ultimately share their skills and experience in leadership roles.
