TAVARES — The Lake County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed Tuesday, Oct. 6, as Sanford A. Minkoff Day, during the last board meeting in which the retiring county attorney would serve.
Minkoff served as the county attorney since Aug. 14, 1995; as well as in the capacity of acting county manager in April 2005 and as interim county manager between October 2009 and January 2011.
“He has impeccable integrity,” said Chairman Jimmy Conner. “He is not only an outstanding attorney, he’s an outstanding human being. He is a role model in so many ways.”Commissioners presented Minkoff with a proclamation stating: “The Board of County Commissioners expresses our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Sanford A. Minkoff for his commitment, dedication and leadership while serving in the capacity as the Lake County Attorney.”
Lake County Chief Deputy Clerk Barbara Lehman, who is retiring along with Minkoff later this month, was also honored with a proclamation during the board meeting.
“This past year, she was instrumental in refinancing our bonds, which will save millions of tax dollars,” said Chairman Conner. “This is just one example of the caliber of proficiency she provides.”
Deputy County Attorney Melanie Marsh will begin her new role as county attorney on Nov. 1.
