Workshop offered on insulation technologies

RELEASE DATE: October 7, 2015

TAVARES — The Lake County Building Services Division is offering homebuilders the “Advanced Technologies in Insulation” workshop on Wednesday, Oct. 28 from 8:30-10 a.m. at the Lake County Extension Office, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.
The free workshop will be led by Tony Newman of the Fi-Foil Company and will feature a presentation approved by the Construction Industry Licensing Board (CILB). Newman will be speaking on the new energy code that recently went into effect and how to meet it, as well as “green energy” methods relating to the Florida building code.
Attendees will learn the correct way to install their products so that they may be better informed during the construction process. State-licensed contractors and inspectors will also receive continuing education credits (CEU) for successful completion of the course.
Course learning objectives include:

• Gaining knowledge of the impact that three key principles of heat flow have on the energy performance of structures from a building envelope perspective.
• Learning about the energy efficiency benefits of reflective insulation and radiant barriers in sustainable design projects.
• Understanding the latest insulation technologies available to project teams, including gas-filled panels and hybrid insulation systems.
• Learning how to meet the green building rating system requirements and building codes with reflective insulation solutions for commercial and residential buildings.
Seating is limited and participants must RSVP by Friday, Oct. 23 to Tina Chavez by phone at 352-343-9655 or tchavez@lakecountyfl.gov.
