Online voting is now open for the 2016 Adopt-a-Lake calendar photo contest

RELEASE DATE: October 12, 2015

TAVARES — The Lake County Adopt-a-Lake Program is conducting an online poll to allow the community to vote for the winning photographs to be included in the 2016 Adopt-a-Lake Program Calendar.

A panel consisting of County Commissioner Tim Sullivan, county employees and volunteers rated more than 290 entries, paring them down to a semi-finalist group of 34 photographs. The top 14 photos will be featured in the calendar and the one receiving the most votes will grace the 2016 calendar’s cover.

To vote, visit www.lakecountyfl.gov/adoptlake. Online voting will end at midnight on Sunday, Oct. 25, and voting is limited to once per day.

The Adopt-a-Lake calendar will include beautiful pictures of waterbodies throughout Lake County, and will be available at various locations beginning Nov. 7 for a suggested donation of $5. To order by mail, make a check payable to Lake County BCC and include $1 additional for postage. Checks should be sent to: Adopt-a-Lake Program, P.O. Box 7800, Tavares, FL 32778.

The Adopt–a–Lake Program encourages local civic organizations, individuals and fraternal and business groups to adopt a segment of a lake’s shoreline. The program is comprised of three separate components: Water-quality monitoring, public education and pollution prevention.

Volunteers are needed to help clean the following waterbodies and shorelines for the upcoming Love Our Lakes Cleanup event on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 8:30 a.m. to noon: Lake Beauclair, Lake Dora, Dora Canal, Lake Eustis, Dead River, Lake Harris and Little Lake Harris.

For questions about the calendar or to volunteer, contact Cathie Catasus at ccatasus@lakecountyfl.gov or 352-253-1686.
