TAVARES — Lake County’s 5th Annual Landscape & Garden Fair, a botanical-themed, family-friendly event, will be held on Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and on Sunday, April 17 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Lake County Extension Center's Discovery Gardens, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares.
Sponsored by Lake County, The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension in Lake County and the Lake County Master Gardeners, the indoor/outdoor festival will provide visitors an opportunity to browse and purchase goods from vendors selling landscaping, native plants, roses, and fruit trees.
Exhibitors that specialize in landscaping, gardening, irrigation, horticulture, fertilizer and more are welcome to sign up for the two-day event. To reserve a space at the fair, vendor rental fees must be received no later than Friday, March 25 at 5 p.m. Available space ranges in price from $75 - $150 depending on size, and $25 for non-profit agencies.
To reserve space at the fair, vendors may download and fill out an exhibitor registration form, make a check payable to “Lake County BCC” and either hand deliver or mail it to: Lake County Extension, Attn: Rene Bass - Landscape & Garden Fair, 1951 Woodlea Road, Tavares, FL 32778.
During the popular weekend event, expert guest speakers will present on a variety of topics including butterfly gardening, unusual edibles, shade gardening and hydroponics. For children, activities will include the Children’s Passport, a butterfly release scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16, and a Maze Scavenger Hunt in the gardens, complete with prizes.
Discovery Gardens is nestled on over four acres behind the Lake County Agricultural Center and features 24 themed gardens, including a string of lush courtyards and five specially designed children’s gardens.
