Lake County honors volunteers contributing 19,000 hours of combined service

RELEASE DATE: February 18, 2016

TAVARES—The Lake County Board of County Commissioners honored 50 volunteers who served Lake County by contributing over 150 of their time in 2015 during an annual recognition ceremony at the Feb. 16 board meeting.

The volunteers were part of a larger group of citizens who dedicated 19,000 total hours, or the equivalent of nine full-time employee positions.

“If we were paying minimum wage for these hours, the cost would be over $152,000 for the county,” said  Lake County Human Resources Director Robert Anderson. “These contributions in our libraries, literacy program, parks and other departments significantly assisted the county in offering excellent customer service and programs to Lake County residents and businesses.”
