LEESBURG — An assessment team continued working Tuesday to identify structures that were damaged during a Christmas-day storm.
According to Lake County Department of Public Safety, Emergency Management Division officials, more than three dozen manufactured homes in the Brittany Estates mobile-home park, located off U.S. Highway 441 near Leesburg, sustained damage during the storm.
Emergency Management officials, along with other emergency personnel from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Lake County Fire Rescue Division, responded to the community at approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25. No injuries were reported.
“We are still in the process of gathering damage information,” said Jerry Smith, Director of the Lake County Emergency Management Division. “We need this information compiled to determine what further assistance is needed for the area.”
Lake County residents are encouraged to report structural damage that has not previously been recorded by calling (352) 343-9420. Businesses that may have sustained damaged are also encouraged to call as the Leesburg Fire Department is assessing the U.S. Highway 441 commercial area for damage. Insurance assistance is also available for Lake County residents by calling the Florida Department of Financial Services at 800-342-2762.
