TAVARES — Lake County Tourism is inviting nature lovers with a photographic eye to enter the Wings & Wildflowers Festival inaugural photo contest. With Lake County’s growing reputation as Florida’s premier birding destination, the goal of the festival is to enhance awareness and appreciation of the area’s natural resources and quality of life.
The contest seeks to promote ecotourism in Lake County through beautiful nature photography to be displayed in print, online and digital media.
Leesburg Center for the Arts staff will judge the contest, with 13 total photos selected. The first place winner’s photo will be featured prominently on the cover of the 2017 Wings & Wildflowers Festival Calendar. A grand prize will be presented during the festival’s keynote dinner on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Lakeside Inn in Mount Dora.
The next best 12 photos will be published inside the calendar, which will be available for purchase at the 5th Annual Wings & Wildflowers Festival in 2017.
To enter the contest, participants must be 18 years or older; photos must have been taken in Lake County, Florida; subject matter must be original and align with the Wings & Wildflowers Festival theme to include birds, wildflowers, bats, butterflies, dragonflies or pollinators and not human subjects.
