Lake County Parks & Trails offers birding and kids’ events in July

RELEASE DATE: June 27, 2016

TAVARES — Lake County Parks & Trails is inviting residents to join park rangers for the following free, family friendly events in July.

Map and Compass Lesson
Friday, July 8 from 9-11 a.m.
Marsh Park & Boat Ramp, 36545 Yale Retreat Road, Eustis
Eagle Scout John Cohoon will give kids a hands-on lesson on how to properly use a map and compass.

Quarterly Bird & Butterfly Survey
Saturday, July 16 from 7:30-11 a.m.
PEAR Park – Wildlife Conservation Area, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg
Volunteers are needed to assist in surveying birds and butterflies. Experience is a plus but not required.

Animal Tracks and Signs
Sunday, July 17 from 9-11 a.m.
Lake May Reserve, 36300 County Road 44A, Eustis
Join staff on an adventure to discover evidence of the animal life that utilizes the park as their home range.

Quarterly Bird & Butterfly Survey
Saturday, July 23 from 7:30-11 a.m.
Ferndale Preserve, 19220 County Road 455, Ferndale
Volunteers are needed to assist in surveying birds and butterflies. Experience is a plus but not required.

Saturday, July 30 from 7:30-11 a.m.
Pasture Reserve, 5144 Lake Erie Road, Groveland
Volunteers are needed to assist in surveying birds and butterflies. Experience is a plus but not required.
