Parks & Trails invites residents to participate in active, outdoor events in September

RELEASE DATE: August 25, 2016

TAVARES — Lake County Parks & Trails is inviting nature lovers to free, ranger-led events next month.


River Trail Work Day

Sunday, Sept. 11 from 9-11 a.m.

PEAR Park – Wildlife Conservation Area, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg

Join staff in the maintenance and restoration of the native plant species along the PEAR Park river trail. Bring gloves, water and wear comfortable clothing.


North American Migration Count

Saturday, Sept. 17 from 7:30-11 a.m.

PEAR Park – Wildlife Conservation Area, 4800 University Ave., Leesburg

Held the third Saturday in September every year to provide a snapshot of fall migration across North America.


Quarterly Bird & Butterfly Surveys

Saturday, Sept. 24 from 7:30-11 a.m.

Ellis Acres Reserve, 25302 County Road 42, Paisley

Volunteers are needed to assist in surveying birds and butterflies. Experience is a plus but not required. 


Mountain Bike the Pasture Reserve

Sunday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. – noon

5144 Lake Erie Road, Groveland

Get some exercise while biking up to five miles through the Green Swamp on the trails of the Pasture Reserve. Park Rangers will provide information about the wetland systems and will be available to answer questions. Participants must bring their own bikes and equipment.
