Solid Waste collection to shift by one day during Labor Day holiday week

RELEASE DATE: August 29, 2016

TAVARES —All Lake County Solid Waste operations, including residential collection services, customer service, the Central Landfill Facility and residential drop-offs, will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5, in observance of Labor Day. Residential collections for citizens living in unincorporated Lake County will shift to the following day for the entire week.

For example, those who normally have residential curbside collection services for household garbage, recycling or yard waste on Monday, will instead have collection on Tuesday during the holiday week. All collection days that week will move to the next day, and Friday collection will be picked up on

Regular Collection Day

Tuesday, Sept. 6

Tuesday, Sept. 6

Wednesday, Sept. 7

For residents with twice-per-week garbage collection, collections will occur one day later for each of the two pickups. Recycling and yard waste collection will also shift by one day during the holiday week.

Except for bulk items, any excess trash, either bagged or placed into a non-county trash cart, will be accepted during the holiday week only. To request collection of bulk trash, such as furniture, appliances and other large household items, residents should notify the hauler directly for service. Haulers have 72 hours, excluding weekends or holidays, to fulfill the request. No hazardous waste items will be collected.
